Let me take you for a walk The Pedestrian

Ray Bradbury wrote the story The Pedestrian to show how cops in our society take control over their own power, and abused it. The story The Pedestrian is a man who goes for a nightwalk every single night for many years. He comes across a police officer one night who ends up stopping him just for walking at night alone. The main character can't figure why this happen to him. The thing is that he has been walking down this path many times and not once has someone stopped him. The story also takes a strong look into the future.

Mr. Leonard Mead, the main character of the story, doesn't understand why the police officer has stopped him. The officer ask Mr. Leonard Mead a lot of question. For example he asked, "what are you doing out here". He responded, "I'm just walking, and getting some fresh air, and going for a night walk" The Offer sounded curious because he asked Mr. Leonard, "just walking" As if he didn't believe him. Later on he's told by the officer to get in. At this point Mr. Leonard Mead can't figure out why he's being arrested.

I believe that the character from the story feels angry toward the police officer whos arresting him. The main character tries to find a reason why he's being arrested when he hasn't commit a crime. Before the arrest the police officer asked him many questions that he answer in a good manner. Thinking if he was nice to the officer he would let him go. That's not the case. He gets arrested for something he didn't do wrong. The thing that makes this story interesting is that he's the only one who goes for night walks.

Mr. Leonard Mead, has been walking down that road for 10 years and never has seen a person walk at night. So why out of all days does he meet this officer. Probably bad luck I guess. The officer tells Mr. Leonard Mead to get in the back of the car, the officer tells Mr. Leonard that he’s being taken to a psychiatric institution to be studied for regressive tendencies. To this he listens to the officer, and he drives alway with Mr. Leonard Mead.

In conclusion, Ray Bradbury wrote this short and interesting story to tell us that cops sometimes are unfair with people and take, and abuse their power they have. He also wrote it due to a cop stopping him one night when he went for a walk. So when he went home after the small in counter with the cop, he wrote the famous story The Pedestrian. The story has a strong meaning and a strong message that will get you thinking. All in all, this story gave me a different view of how police officer are seen in our society.

Also I just realized that the police officer was a talking car 🤦‍♂️ My bad...
